Jock is a qualified electrician, refrigeration engineer, electrical inspector, and holds additional certifications in business and project management. He completed his apprenticeship with Commercial & Industrial Refrigeration in Auckland, earning the prestigious Wallie Askew Apprentice of the Year Award in 2016. 

Jock has worked across a wide range of sectors and is known for his ability to solve even the most technical refrigeration challenges. Outside of work, Jock enjoys time with his family and creating music.

Taine joined Big Fridge in 2021 and is currently completing his electrical apprenticeship, with plans to continue into refrigeration. He’s known for his reliability, attention to detail, and pride in delivering quality work. 

Taine is a natural team player and embodies professionalism on every job. Outside work, he’s active in rugby and cricket, and enjoys the camaraderie of team sports.

Amon brings a depth of experience and calm precision to the team, particularly in diagnostics and health and safety. Formerly a refinery operator, Amon re-entered the refrigeration field with a focus on operational excellence. 

Known for his methodical approach and integrity, Amon is a valued team member and trusted leader on site. He spends his downtime with family, working on cars, or managing his kiwifruit orchard.

Blake, Taine’s younger brother, joined Big Fridge in 2024. He is currently training as a refrigeration apprentice and is recognised for his initiative, strong work ethic, and professionalism. 

Blake is well-presented, eager to learn, and consistently demonstrates high standards. Like his brother, he enjoys rugby, cricket, and staying active in the sporting community.

Mike joined Big Fridge in 2024, bringing with him a strong commitment to the refrigeration trade. Known for his perseverance and technical knowledge, Mike notably restored a complex refrigeration system aboard the fishing vessel San Antone-a standout achievement. 

Mike also volunteers with Search and Rescue and enjoys time in the bush with his family.

Loraine joined in early 2025 and has been instrumental in streamlining our administrative operations. Her attention to detail and strong organisational skills have greatly improved internal efficiency. 

Loraine brings warmth and energy to the workplace and is well-loved by the team. Outside of work, she enjoys quality time with her cat Luna, fine wine, and visits back to the UK.

Steven joined the team in 2025 from Active Refrigeration, bringing dual trade qualifications in both electrical and refrigeration. 

With his analytical mindset and hands-on expertise, Steven has completed some of our most technically challenging projects. He works a four-day week and spends his long weekends doing what he loves most…fishing.

Barry is the owner of Lapsley Electrical and a long-time collaborator with Big Fridge. An expert problem solver, Barry has played a key role in several of our largest-scale projects. 

His reliability and technical versatility make him an invaluable partner to our operations.

Owners of Smith Brothers Fabrication, Andrew and Justin are highly skilled industrial engineers with ASME welding certification. 

We first worked together on the refit of the Pacific Endeavour and have since partnered on a range of complex fabrication projects. 

Known for their speed, precision, and innovation, they’re also outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hunting, sailing, and adventure.

Founder of Northland Fabrication, Justin is an accomplished welder and fabricator with a passion for precision work. 

We first collaborated with Justin on marine engineering projects and continue to value his enthusiasm, skill, and good humour. 

Outside work, he’s active in the Onerahi Fire Brigade and enjoys motorsport and family life.

Trent, founder of Lbranch Fabrication, and longtime friend Kurt are masters of both motorsport and metalwork. 

Known for their innovative approach and high-quality output, they support Big Fridge on specialised engineering projects. 

When they’re not fabricating, you’ll find them at the racetrack putting their skills to thrilling use.

Brett is an advanced automation and software specialist with a passion for electrical systems. 

Self-taught in controls programming, he has helped develop cutting-edge diagnostics for remote refrigeration monitoring. 

His expertise enables us to provide predictive maintenance and real-time support nationwide. Outside of work, Brett is a dedicated father, a vintage audio restorer, and an enthusiast of electric vehicles.
